Running Club News 20/02/12

A warmer evening today compared to the previous two weeks, although it was decided that it was too cold to work on Energy Systems this evening so instead we repeated last weeks routes. This decision worked well as 56% of the runners this evening ran the fastest they ever have since joining New Life Training Running Club!!

Firstly though a big welcome to this evenings newest Running Club Member, Amanda. She has never run before, and although she has cycled long distances in the past she wasn’t even sure if she would make a mile let alone the 2.3m course. Well she flew round the whole course non-stop in a very fast 31m 50s, fantastic Amanda!!! Last weeks newcomers, Hana and Julie, were back for more this week and completed the route again non-stop in a superfast time. They took over 10% off there time from last week and ran an average of 1m 20s per mile faster than last week to set themselves a new Personal Best!!

The most improved this week was Louisa, she flew round the circuit taking 5m 14s off her time for last week and set herself a new record of 11m 52s per mile, a massive 2m16s faster per mile average, awesome. Having been inspired by the running club, Louisa has now entered some of the 10k races coming up and the Great South Run. Well done Louisa!! After last weeks Running Club News there is a bit of a battle for the most improved runner at the moment. Sandy again improved taking another 1m 37s off his time from last week and is now averaging just 8m18s per mile now! Not to be beaten Angela has now improved each week for her last 5 runs!! Having lost half-a-stone she is also tearing up the circuit with an average of just 10m 20s per mile and closing quickly on less than 10min per mile!!!

Also breaking records tonight was Donna, she has been steadily improving with her fitness and it showed this evening as she took 30seconds off her best average mile time. Barbara has improved week on week since starting with us 3 weeks ago and she set herself a new target as she closes in on the 12mins per mile average!! Fiona has also improved week on week since starting this route and she put in a great finish this evening to bring her average speed per mile to just shy of 13mins per mile.

Well done to all the runners this evening, it was a very impressive evening with some great support, mentoring and encouragement. Well done to you all!!!

Bruce is taking charge for a week next week and we will repeat these routes for one last time!!
