We had a great day Sunday as 8 keen runners travelled to Lee-on-Solent in preperation for the Great South Run now just 3 week away! The course had been planned to mimic the Great South, we even had the strong headwind for the last 2 miles, but that didnt deter the focused bunch! There were a few short-cuts and wrong turns taken on the route but overall all who participated realised that the Great South Run is very achievable and for some, it can be done in a very quick time. In particular, Pete completed the course in 1h25m fantastic! and Becca (who wasnt even sure she could make 10miles) completed it just 6 minutes behind at 1h 31m. Well done also to Alan 1h 36m, Katrina 1h 42m and to Sharon and Alistair, who undertook a slightly shorter route but in an impressive time of 1h 21m. Well done to all!!!
Monday night Running Club returned to the normal structure, with all runners out to achieve their Personal Bests in this last attempt on these routes. There was a particularly strong head wind this evening which expected to slow people down but even with this handicap the majority of runners put in their Personal Bests on this route. In particular, Kathleen had a fantastic run, taking nearly a minute per mile off her run speed!! Awesome! The kids also had good runs with Emma now clocking less than 10 mins per mile and Matthew closing in on 8 minute miles!! Thats Fast !! On the longer circuits Sandy put in his fastest time ever at 9m 34s per mile. However Annie T was the star performer of the night taking 5 minutes off her previous time for this course!! Fanastic! Well done to all the runners last night, it was good to see some old faces back again as well. Next week we have new circuits for everyone!
