Running Club News 27/12/11

Merry Christmas to you all!!

Today was  a special running club with the focus on people running their furthest rather than their fastest! With the Stubbington 10k coming up it was important that the runners got the miles in their legs and no better time to do that than 2 days after Christmas.

Conditions were excellent for running today, unfortunately the course was probably the hardest ever to be set for the runners. You can check out the course and its inclines at http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/57819456

We had 11 runners today with 3 runners completing their furthest ever distances. A massive well done to Kathy who completed the 3.8mile route all on her own and in impressive style. This is the furthest she has ever run and her feet knew it!! Well done to Pete and Nick who also extended their furthest ever distances for running now set at 6.4miles.

A big welcome to Clive who completed his first run with the club he helped Wendy to a very impressive time for a 10k even with a small break mid-run!

Well done to Alan and Pete, who both managed repectable times on minimal sleep and a xmas diet for Champions!

Most impressive though was Liam, who not only completed a fair distance (10k) but he also completed it in his fastest ever speed, an average of less 9mins per mile!! Awesome!!

Thanks to all other runners today – Sharon, Sandy and Bruce, great run guys!!
