Running Club News 16/1/12

A great day yesterday with 18 of the New Life Training Runners participating in the Stubbington 10k and completing the course in some style! Well done. A few regulars took a well earned rest this evening from running but the Monday Night Club had a few new members and a few old members return for tonight’s run. A big welcome to Kyle who ran his first route with the club this evening. He certainly made an impact as he set the pace for Speedy Pete and Clive on the 4.2mile circuit. The three of them completed the course in a record time, averaging just 7m 48s per mile!! Very fast gents and a healthy competition that will only help make you guys faster!
Welcome back to Donna, she has had a few months away from the running club but came back in style today as she achieved her fastest ever time with an average of 10m 44s, well done and welcome back Donna. After a great run yesterday Alistair took the shorter route option this evening but flew round the short track in a Personal Speed Best of 7m 55s and whole minute per mile quicker than his previous best average speed. You need to match this in a longer route now Alistair!! Another person putting in a personal best time after yesterdays 10k was Mel F, she flew round Stubbington yesterday and clearly had the same set of wings on today as she tore up the course with an average speed of 10m 38s!! 30 seconds quicker per mile than her last PB!
Morgan, inspired by her father running with her tonight, achieved her personal best, a fantastic 11m 16s per mile, this was made more impressive with the fact it was completed on the longer 4.2mile route. Well done Morgan!!
Following yesterdays great achievement, I would like to encourage as many of you runners as possible to enrol on the Marwell 10k race on May 20th. This gives you all plenty of time to build up your speed and stamina to complete the course and I will produce a plan leading up to the event to ensure you all get round comfortably. I am aware many of you have enrolled already, but for those who haven’t please do it quickly, you can join up at https://www.sportsystems.co.uk/ss/event/MarwellWildlife10KandFunRun/EntryForm?id=574
We are not an affiliated club for this run, but please enter the team name as New Life Training.

Finally, it is not often one of the club members runs a whole marathon. But this year Tori has successfully entered the London Marathon in order to raise money for charity. I am sure you will all encourage her with her training with us, but you also encourage her to get round the course by donating to the charity she is representing. You can do this by clicking on www.justgiving.com/Tori-Sturgess. She has already raised over £1000 for the The Rainbow Centre For Conductive Education Ltd. Well done Tori!
