Running Club News 25/6/18

A few sessions to catch up on having been away at the Isle of Wight for a while, plus the routes below for the next 3 weeks –

Friday 15th June 2018

I think this can be called the official start of the New York Marathon 2018 training, with 3 out of the 4 runners in this mornings event. It was nearly a perfect start as well as Nick and Katie completed 5.8miles at the perfect pace for the marathon – 11m41s per mile. It was only tainted slightly by a slight injury to Katie, but I am sure she will bounce back. We are looking for sponsorship for the Marathon, taking place on November 4th. Please see the bottom of this page for details. Also today, Juliette set a new distance and time record as she improves week on week with the club. Her new distance of 4.5miles is really impressive. Nick B and Sarah went for the longer 6mile route this morning, Nick had a stormer, finishing in just over 9mins per mile. Sarah managed a slight detour and added 0.3 miles on to her run, but she still finished in a great time – 9m41s per mile. Well done to all!

Monday 18th June 2018

A good turn out this evening and a fairly social run in the heat. Becky and Sharon had probably the run of the evening, completing the 4.5mile route non-stop and in Sharons 2nd quickest time of the year!  Nick C had a great run too, he was the only one this evening to do the 6mile route and he smashed it. He could see Nina ahead of him coming down the final stretch which pushed him to finish just 10seconds behind her and an average of 8m 35s. Nina and Carl were back to running after a break this evening and Carl had a great first run back, complerting the 4.5mile circuit in under 9 mins per mile. Nina teamed up with Cat and the pair of them completed the course non-stop!! Also having a great run this evening was Charles, he paired up with the super quick Jo and he kept with her to finish with a 9m 07s average and his fastest run in 2018!! Well done.

Monday 25th June 2018

It was a very hot evening and England were playing in their opening match in the world cup! So not only was it a quiet run, it was also a very short one, with everyone opting for the 3.3mile route so they could get back and watch the match. Cat, Sharon and Nina teamed up to keep it social, although I am not sure they talked much about the football on the way round. Nick, Carl and myself formed the boys team, although Carls new footwear presented some issues which caused him to drop back in the final stages. Great run from everyone though in hot conditions. New routes for next week!

NEW YORK MARATHON

This weekend see’s the start of our training for the New York Marathon on November 4th. It is going to be tough but I am pleased to share this adventure with 3 great people – Nick Charles, Katie Cumming & Melissa Beadsworth. Please help us keep motivated with a beep or a wave while we are out training, although the best way to keep us focused is to sponsor us and make it all worth while, please go to https://fundraise.projectals.org/fundraiser/1469514
