Running Club News 19/9/18

Friday September 7th

A slight mix up in my preparations this morning, resulted in me running firstly with Faye, on her 1st run with the club, and then with Sarah and Charlotte, also her first run with the club. I didn’t finish there though, joining the New York Marathon team on their epic 16miles adventure through Swanwick, Park Gate, Titchfield and back again. A total of 19miles for me, and time for some new trainers I think! For the newbies to the Warsash Running club it was a great start. Firstly, Faye, training for the Great South Run, smashed the 9mins per mile average over a decent 4.3miles. Then Charlotte, facing a fitness test shortly for the forces, completed nearly 5miles, the furthest she has ever run. A big thanks to Sarah who finished the route with her and kept her going to the end. Well done ladies, I hope to see you back there next week.

Monday September 10th

Firstly a big well done to Sarah, Jo and Sue for completing the New Forest Half Marathon yesterday. A very decent time of 2hours 12 minutes as well, awesome ladies. Sarah wasn’t done with that though as she came along this evening and smashed out her 2nd ever fastest run with the running club with an average of just outside 9 mins per mile. This was somewhat due to the pace setting this evening. Our normally reliable “10min per mile man” – Carl must have had 3 weetabix for breakfast as he stormed off at a rate of knots this evening. It was only in the last half a mile that Nick was able to catch them to finish with a 9min average and a great way to complete the weekend having run 26miles ( a marathon) since Friday!! Well done Nick. Keeping up with the group was Becky, it was her first run back with the club for sometime having been suffering with knee problems. You could tell she was fully recovered though as Becky recorded her fastest ever time with the club, with a 9m 20s average.

A few minor injuries resulted in slightly shorter routes for some this week. Cat had a hair-do which clearly weighed her down this week, causing some stress on her calf, so a shorter route was taken with Nina in support. Charles was also feeling tight muscles, and so wisely cut it short, I hope you both make speedy recoveries ready for next week and the last time on these routes.
