Running Club News 6/10/14

A big thank you to Bruce who looked after the running club this evening and to Mike for bringing the maps along. This will be the routes for the next few weeks leading up to the Great South Run. Next week however, we will be doing something slightly different. I would also recommend that runners start to wear their winter bright clothing or reflective arm bands for running on the road as it is getting dark quick now. As for this evening, Mike was back from his walk to base camp in the Himalayas. The altitude training certainly made a differences as his first run back after 3 weeks away was a PB – an amazing 6m38s per mile for a 6mile run is phenomenal!! The other runners all chose the shorter route…..I think that will change when I am there next week!!!! There were some great performances although we really should be getting the miles in to the legs now with the longer runs. Mandy had a great run achieving yet another Personal Best with an 8m 31s run. Pete took nearly a minute per mile off his Friday morning average as he returns to fitness and Alistair and Sue had a sprint at  the end to leave just 5 seconds between them at the finish. Sandy is also starting to peak at the right time as he improved again on his previous run! Well done to all the runners. see you next week!
