Running Club News 5/5/14

A valuable lesson learned this evening…Don’t eat a large meal an hour before running club then try to keep up with Mike in this form as you may get to see your meal a second time!! Mike was in great form this week. Having spent the week hill training in Plymouth he was set up well for this evenings tough run. The first mile (up Pitchponds Road) was a sprint 6m 20s!!! And he didn’t really slow down, finishing with an average of 6m47s!! Amazing! This is a new PB for Mike and closing in on the 6m25s club record.

The biggest improvement of the evening came from Greg. A fantastic run saw him take nearly 3 minutes off his last time on this route and took his average split back below 9m 30s per mile. Brilliant! Well done Greg! Lindsey was back running with the club this evening, joined by Charles the pair completed the tough route in a very good average of 9m 39s. Great preparation for Lindsey who is completing a 10k this Sunday near Bournemouth, good luck!!

Pete completed the run this evening aided by Stella and Sue. Fortunately Stella was no where to be seen at the end of the run, but Sue managed to encourage Pete to a 9mins per mile average, a great time for both Sue and Pete this evening, well done guys! Finally Sandy helped his return to exercise and running with a very competent 9m 26s per mile. He looked strong finishing this evening as well and had plenty left in the tank!

New routes next week! Also due to a lack of interested we have scrapped “The General” at Winchester on May 18th. Instead I am aware a number of you are running in the local Priory Park Fun Run! For more information go to – http://betterbodyclub.co.uk/events/fun-run-2014.html
