Running Club News 5/12/16

Friday 2nd December

It started off a nice social run as always on a bright crisp Friday morning. It was a new route for the team today but they overcame it well. With less distractions this week Lisa put in a good time, faster than last week on a new course. Greg had a good run too finishing just outside the 10mins per mile mark! Well done team, same routes next week and a chance to get faster!

Monday 5th December

New routes for the Monday club as well this evening. A choice of 3 was offered but everyone chose the middle distance 5.1miles! The route threw a few people out of sync, as they hadn’t run through the center in this direction before. Apparently it is darker going this way more than the other direction??

Everyone paired up and off we went. Pete forgot to take his energy gel before setting off which slowed him down apparently. It wasn’t the thick jumper he was wearing at all then? He ran with Carl, who had a fantastic performance at the Victory 5mile at the weekend in a superfast time. The 9m 25s per mile for the pair of them was therefore very impressive.

Jo was back this evening and paired up with Charles. They had a great run with a good average time to show Charles is back in the zone!! Jo had a slight groin strain, but she wouldn’t let anyone check it for her, even after I warmed my hands up!

Nick ran with myself and managed to drag me round to complete the 5.1miles (just!) Not a bad time, but I think I was holding Nick back this evening. Next week same routes though with the added incentive of Xmas drinks in the Silver Fern after to motivate people. I expect to see some of the fastest times of the year next week!!
