Running Club News 31/10/18

Firstly apologies for the delay in this running club news edition. As it happens I have been doing a lot of running lately and the admin time has been reduced a tad!

So here is a quick re-cap edition.

Monday 20th August.

We had a great turnout for a sunny Monday evening. It was the 2nd attempt on these routes and having made a wrong turn myself on the 1st attempt and reducing the distance from the advertised 6miles to 5.2 I was determined to get it right today. So I stretched out in front (again) to ensure everyone followed the correct path. Carl kept with me to remind me of the grief I would receive for anymore distance errors. I was therefore gutted to find at the finish the distance was 0.2miles short. Damn that Map my Run!! Lots more teasing ensued but for the runners it was a good run. Well done to Nina especially who completed the 4mile route on her own and to Jo and Sarah who are upping their training for the New Forest Half Marathon in a couple of weeks.

Friday 24th August

We had a special Friday Running club this morning to help the New York Marathon training (Did I mention I was doing the New York Marathon??). Nick and I had planned to completed a 12 mile route, the furthest either of us had run in over 10years. We were lucky enough to be joined by Jo and Carl. Jo is dong the New Forest Half Marathon in a few weeks and so this was ideal training in preparation. Carl just had a day off and wanted to come along to be pace setter. He did a pretty good job too. We agreed 10mins per mile would be the target and we finished at 9:58s, well done Carl and thank you. It was a tough run all through Titchfield, Stubbington, Hill Head and back via Solent Breezes. Still it was another 12 miles completed successfully as we build up to the 26.2 slowly.

Monday 27th August

Bank Holiday Monday and only the dedicated few were out with the running club this evening. It was the full New York Marathon team – Nick, Melissa, Katie and myself along with Katies husband – Pete – who completed his first ever run with the Warsash Running Club. It is always good if you are competing as a team to practice as a team and this evening was no exception. We all completed the 5.8 miles together with ease and at a good “marathon training” pace of 10:05 per mile. The dream team are coming together well!!
