Friday February 24th
It was a beautiful Spring like morning for running club today. It was great to be able to welcome back some previous members for today’s run. Lisa was back from illness for her first run in 5 weeks, her 4.2mile run was a great way to get back in to the habit, well done, she even admitted that she had missed it!! Also back today, was Theresa, having not run since last June but now preparing for the moonwalk. She completed the 3.2mile circuit non stop and in a great time too, well done Theresa!! Running with Theresa and back after 2 months off was Mrs Motivator, Sharon, she has been missed massively by the club and it was great to see her back running again. For the run itself, Richard had to go out on his own early due to work, but completed the run non-stop for only his 3rd ever lap. Sarah was also back this week and put in a great time keeping with Lisa all the way round. Greg ran with myself for the first time in a good few months, and we managed to put the world to right, as well as a sub-10min mile average. Well done Team, same routes next week.

Monday February 27th
In stark contrast to the beautiful run on Friday, this evening was dark, cold and in freezing rain to start with. The rain did ease up but the cold wind cut to the bone this evening. We have experienced a few injuries at the Enjoy Club over the weekend and I was keen to ensure no further injuries occurred this evening. I was too late though as Gemma walked in with her bright bottoms / classic top combo and Charles’ eyes were damaged forever. It was fine though as Mandy’s jacket was bright enough to divert planes from Southampton Airport and with a pair of ping pong bats she was able to land a helicopter to evacuate everyone. Admittedly I did make a mess of the route description before we departed this evening, however, less than half the runners actually got it right. For Greg it is acceptable, his 4.4miles was a little further than most, but everyone else has no excuses!! A few took the Crofton Road route rather than the Thornton circuit, however there was not a lot in it, and everyone seemed to enjoy the run which is the main objective.
Mrs Motivator was back this evening, Sharon took the girls, Mandy, Lydia and Nina round the 4.2mile route in a fantastic time, well done ladies. Jo, Gemma, Carl and Nick opted for the longer advertised 5.3mile route, to find it was just 5miles via Crofton and 5.1 via Thornton, still good times, with all runners finishing close to 9mins per mile average. Charles and Rich pushed themselves well with Rich just 2 secs per mile off his PB time!! Next week Rich!!
Finally, Greg had a great run despite missing Greenaway Road totally. Slightly slower than Fridays run but the conditions were very good on Friday. Same routes next week team, keep up the good work.
