A great positive run from the team in Warsash this evening. With Mike away climbing in the Himalayas, is was down to the other “Sat Nav” Mike to set the pace this evening. He set off like an rocket, his head band becoming a distance blur to most of us. Tom did what he could to keep in site of Mike and that helped Tom set a new PB for himself. He improved on last weeks PB by another 26secs per mile. A huge improvement, well done Tom. As for Sat Nav, he was finally chased down by Mark, who had to change his trainers on the way round in a pit-stop Maclaren would have been proud of. The final push down Osborne Road was worth it though as Mike also achieved his PB with the running club with a fantastic 8m 12s average per mile. Tom was chased by Jo and is was a tight finish at the end with the two of them only a couple of seconds apart. This resulted in Jo’s best ever run with the club as she finished with a 8m 51s average, awesome Jo, well done. She just gets faster and faster!!
Maggie, who managed to run a little extra having gone off script last week finished this evenings race coming from a totally different direction again! There is only 1 more direction she can finish this run on now and there are bets going on to see if she will turn up that way next week. She had a great run though, aided by her partner in crime – Jodi, they completed a 5 mile route in under 10mins per mile. This is the first sub-10 min per mile run since June for Mags, well done!!!
There was a big welcome back to the running club for Paul this evening. He hasn’t put in for the Great South Run YET!! but based on this evenings performance he should and certainly could do the run very well. His 9m 42s was brilliant for a first run in 3 months!!
The other two runners this evening, Charles and Sharon, had a fantastic sprint finish at the end. It was a very exciting finish to a great run for the both of them. It was Charles’ fastest for 8 weeks and Sharon was not far off her PB too.
Well done to all the runners this evening, same routes next week for the last time and a chance to beat a PB or 2!!!
