Running Club News 18/3/13

The rain and the cold subsided and the sun shone for the Warsash Running Club this evening. For the first time this year it was perfect running conditions with very little wind and a clear sky. The route however, is not so forgiving. The runners tonight were told that they were to work on their anaerobic threshold which meant they had to sprint every hill. There were 4 short steep hills to overcome on the 4.4mile route – Warsash Road, Heath Road North, Shore Road and Pitchponds. The sprints are designed to push the heart rates higher in to the anaerobic zone and therefore improve your fitness levels quicker. It was tough though. Out front Mark and Pete found it tough but set a course record of 34m 58s as a target for the younger runners next week. Last weeks record speeds were recalculated when we found the course was a little shorter than expected, Charles’ PB had been wiped but it didn’t take him long to set another one – 9m 22s per mile this evening was fantastic and his fastest ever run on a very tough route! Well done! Sandy, Bruce and Paul all finished within sight of each other, all with exceptionally quick runs! And the girls didn’t disappoint either with a fantastic run averaging 11mins per mile!

Well done to all the runners, same again next week!
