This was due to be the 2nd week of the 3 week course rotation and a chance for people to improve on last weeks course times. However, it was a such a pleasant evening everyone decided to go for the longer 5.4mile route as opposed to last weeks 4.7m circuit. It was a good decision as everyone put in a great run, all 7 runners completing the lap in under 10mins per mile average.
Out front was Jack. He was in typical cheeky mode pushing Mark around the course, lulling him in to a full sense of security then putting his foot down with his last 2 miles recorded at 7:15 and 7:25!! His top speed was an amazing 4:42!!! Poor old Mark! He had already run 5.5miles before this and is now considering hanging up his trainers having been beaten by the young runner…. well done Jack!!
The longer route seemed to inspire a few people, Bruce had a great run, with a fast finish to record an average of just 9m 12s per mile. Ali recorded her personal best average, made all the more impressive due to the distance involved. She finished with an average of 9m 32s per mile, and was close to beating Charles with a sprint finish. Charles had a great run, having run mid-week as well, he is improving all the time and finished just 9 secs per mile outside his personal best……next week Charles!!
Alistair was back as well and in training for the great south run. A great first run back from him shows he is going to beat his last years GSR time easily when it comes around. Also impressing this evening was Sandy. His 9m 27s was a superb start point to begin his GSR training.
The training schedule for the GSR will be published this week. If you are interested in getting involved call or text Mark on 07771 985015.
