Friday June 10th
A massive thank you to Sharon for covering for me at Fridays Running Club, and for completing the blog below…
Greg 5.5 miles 53.49 09:47
Lindsay 5.5 57.11 10:24
Sue 5.5 57.11 10:24
Tara 5.5 52.00 09:27
Gemma 5.5 54:02 09:49
Jo McD 4.3 46.00 10:42
Charlotte 4.3 DNF
Greg turned up with knee strapped up plus sore neck admitting that he probably was doing too much so amazingly he teamed up with Tara (a friend of Jo visiting from Sunderland) who is a very proficient long distance runner and kept up with her but was just pipped to the post!!
Lindsay and Sue ran together; Lindsay said later that she found the run hard as it was so humid but they both, as usual, did brilliantly.
Gemma turned up with Chester and said her run was OK!! I think the heat had been exhausting for everyone.
Jo was feeling a little worse for wear after maybe a little too much alcohol at a BBQ to celebrate Tara visiting but she did so much better than she initially thought she would!
Charlotte was suffering as she ran up Brook Lane from Hayfever symptoms so decided to abandon the run which was a good idea.
And Sharon went off the Puddleducks!!
Monday 13th June
Another fantastic turn out for the running club this evening in sunny Warsash. Two new members to the club as well this evening. A big welcome to Mel and Sue. Sue had a great run, completing the 1.3mile circuit non-stop and with no problems, I think she will be moving up on distance next week! Mel too had a great run, joining the advanced runners, she whizzed round the 4.3miles in a very quick 10m 23s per mile. Well and done and welcome ladies.
There were some fantastic improvements from last weeks beginners, showing that they are making improvements already! Lorna had a great run this evening, not only did she increase her distance this week from 1.2miles to 2.3 but she was also a massive 3minutes 30seconds per mile quicker!! I think I must have been taking it easy on you last week Lorna!!! Well done! Rose also increased her distance this week by nearly a mile, and was a lot faster with it too. Her 11m 06s per mile was just 18seconds per mile off her all time best with the club, maybe a new PB next time Rose! Also recording a fantastic improvement this week was Lydia, she shaved a huge 1m 20s per mile off of her average last week and finished the run with the biggest smile ever!! Ellie also did very well chasing Lydia all the way resulting in her average improving by 18seconds per mile!
Also running with the beginners this evening was Mandy, back from a long break with the running club, she had been inspired to come back having seen the photos of the London 10000 on social media. She did brilliant too, averaging just 10m 42s on her return to the club, welcome back Mandy! Angela had a great run after her return to the club last week. She was 10seconds per mile quicker this week. Finally with the beginners group we had Charli and Kate. Kate decided to push a bit further this week and completed an extra mile while maintaining her already impressive average speed, well done! Charli had a goal in mind for this evening and she really pushed herself to achieve a Personal Best – Her first Sub 10-mins per mile!! A massive 1m 05s per mile faster than last week, well done Charli!
The improvements this evening were not restricted purely to the beginners routes though. Theresa had an awesome run! She flew round the 4.3miles and took exactly a minute per mile off her average from last week. That is a big improvement over 4miles, well done Theresa! Lindsay wrapped up the 4.3mile route team with a very impressive 12seconds per mile improvement week on week as well!
The 5.4mile route was fast this evening, Mike obviously flew round the track super quick as ever. Charles also had a good improvement this evening, he was chasing Gemma, who also managed a huge improvement on last week, her 9m14s this evening followed another PB at the Park Run yesterday! Greg was Mr. Consistent with an average just 1 second out from last weeks time. Whereas Leyon took nearly a minute per mile off last weeks average but didn’t have enough in the tank to complete the route fully. Although the 5.4miles was the furthest route scheduled it must be said that Sharon must have completed a lot further this evening, running between groups and individuals, egging them on and encouraging! It clearly worked, with so many PBs this evening, thank you Sharon!!
Next week is the finally attempt at these routes and an opportunity for some more Personal Bests!!
