Running Club News 11/3/13

It was freezing this evening, quite literally!! The temperature, the coldest March day since 1982, reach minus 2 at the end of this evenings run. It was no surprise then that the runners kept as a group, allegedly to share bodily-warmth as they ran round the new 4.5m course. So it was a good evening to have the excuse of a parents evening to get out of running myself, but for the 6 runners tonight I have great admiration as it could have been so easy to have stayed at home in the warm! So well done to you all!!!

The course this evening contained lots of small inclines to push the runners heart rates up a little higher as the Marwell 10k approaches. You can see the plan for the next 11 weeks at http://nltraining.co.uk/running-club-news-marwell-10k-preperation/

So with a hilly course and freezing conditions you could be forgiven for a slow run, but Charles had other ideas and knocked a second per mile of his personal best average speed. He ran with Bruce, who put in a great performance with his first run for a while. Thanks Bruce for supervising in my absence as well!! The group out front finished fast as well, clearly keen to get out of the cold night air!! Paul, Pete and Mike motivated each other round to a very quick average of less than 9mins per mile. Kyle had to retire half-way round the course, hope you’re OK Kyle.

Next week is the same routes! See you all there and hopefully some warmer weather too.
