Great South Run Preparation

For the 3rd year in a row New Life Training has been coaching its runners in preparation for the Great South Run. Now with less than 2 weeks to the Great South Run, the Warsash Based Running Club have upped the training in preparation for this years event.

Last weekend the running club undertook (close to) a 10mile run along Lee-on-Solent. This is the closest run to the GSR without actually doing the route itself. The performances of those dedicated to the day were fantastic and shows the hard work put in preparation of this years run is really paying off. In particular, Paul N run the furthest he has ever run non-stop and in an excellent average speed of 9m28s awesome, a review of his finish time for the GSR is required!!! Christine also ran her furthest with another fantastic average of just 10mins per mile, motivated on the route by Bruce this was Christine’s furthest and fastest run with the club, setting herself a new speed PB!!

Also setting a new speed PB was Sharon, again another record in distance, Sharon completed the 10k route in just 78minutes – fantastic! And she didn’t stop once!!!!

Out front was Fraser, unfortunately he has a prior arrangement on the day of the GSR, any excuse!! But he set a ferocious pace today with an average of 8mins per mile for the route. Nick used Fraser as a pace setter keeping him in his sites all the way round and he finished with a fantastic time of 1h 16m and a need to review his GSR target time as well!!

Well done to all the runners for attending this run, it will be great preparation for the GSR for you!!!
